Biography
Stanley Fields (born Walter L. Agnew) was an American actor. He appeared on Broadway in Fifty Miles from Boston (1908) and The Red Widow (1911), and performed in vaudeville with Frank Fay for eight years. His film career began with an uncredited role in New York Nights (1929); he signed a contract with Paramount Pictures in 1930.
Fields is known for supporting roles in numerous 1930s films, including Sam Vettori in Little Caesar (1931), Lon Yountis in Cimarron (1931), Capt. Davies in Island of Lost Souls (1932), William Muspratt in Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), the sheriff in Way Out West (1937) and Carlos in Algiers (1938). He died of a heart attack in Los Angeles on 23 April 1941.
