Biography

Stanley Meadows (14 July 1931 – 16 September 2025) was an English character actor. He was born in Stepney, London, and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating in 1955. After repertory work he appeared in stage productions with Laurence Olivier, John Gielgud and Harold Pinter.

He became a familiar face in British films and television from the late 1950s, often cast as heavies or detectives. His screen credits include The Mummy (1959), The Ipcress File (1965) as Inspector Pat Keightley, Performance (1970) as Rosebloom, and television series such as The Saint, The Avengers, The Persuaders!, The Professionals and Widows.
