Biography
Stefany Mathias is a Canadian actress, director and producer. Born on 12 March 1972 in North Vancouver, British Columbia, she is a member of the Squamish Nation and carries the title of hereditary chief following the death of her father, Chief Joe Mathias, in 2000.
She graduated from the University of British Columbia theatre programme and studied film production and directing at Vancouver Film School. Mathias began performing as a child and later appeared in television series including Da Vinci's Inquest and Da Vinci's City Hall. Her film roles include Flashback Mother in Pathfinder (2007) and Gladys in Monkey Beach (2020). She is best known for portraying Sumu (Chief Wife) in Prey (2022) and Dr. Mari Chayton in the series The Last Frontier (2025). She has also directed several short films.
