Biography
Stephen Alpert (also credited as Steve Alpert) is an American actor and former senior executive at Studio Ghibli. He worked at the studio from the mid-1990s until around 2011, heading its international division and contributing to the English-language releases and overseas promotion of several films, including Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) and Princess Mononoke (1997).
Alpert voiced the character Castorp in the Japanese version of The Wind Rises (2013); the role and its design were modelled on him. He later published the memoir Sharing a House with the Never-Ending Man: 15 Years at Studio Ghibli in 2020 (originally issued in Japanese in 2015). He has additional producer and crew credits on Ghibli titles such as Ponyo (2008) and Tales from Earthsea (2006).
