Biography
Stephen Ashfield is a Scottish actor born in Glasgow on 7 December 1979. He trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Royal Academy of Music in London.
He is primarily known for his stage career, which includes originating the role of Bob Gaudio in the West End production of Jersey Boys and playing Elder McKinley in The Book of Mormon, a performance that earned him an Olivier Award. Screen credits include Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), Call the Midwife (2014), The Devil's Hour (2022) and Maria (2024), in which he played conductor Jeffrey Tate.
