Biography
Stephen Barton is a British composer born on 17 September 1982 in Preston, Lancashire. As a child he was a chorister at Winchester Cathedral and later studied piano and composition at Wells Cathedral School on a specialist music scholarship. At 18 he became an assistant to composer Harry Gregson-Williams, working on numerous film scores before establishing his own company in 2009.
He has composed for films including Exam (2009), Jennifer's Body (2009) and Unlocked (2017), and for television series such as 12 Monkeys (2015–2018) and season three of Star Trek: Picard (2023), where he served as primary composer. His video-game work includes scores for the Titanfall and Apex Legends series, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019) and its sequel Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (2023). Barton has won two SCL Awards and a Grammy Award, and received a BAFTA nomination.
