Biography

Stephen Coit was an American actor. Born on 27 October 1920 in Dunbar, West Virginia, he appeared in films and on television from the early 1950s until the early 1980s, often in supporting roles and credited at times as Steve Coit.

His film credits include Fear and Desire (1952), in which he played Fletcher and the Captain, The Left Handed Gun (1958), Countdown (1967) and The Long Goodbye (1973), in which he played Detective Farmer. On television he appeared in series such as Ben Casey, Barnaby Jones, The Rockford Files and Little House on the Prairie, and in the miniseries Captains and the Kings (1976).

Coit died on 21 January 2005 in Garden Grove, California.
