Biography
Stephen Csillag, also credited as Steve Csillag, was a Hungarian-born American film editor and technician who specialised in musical film editing. Born on 19 April 1907 in Hungary, he later worked in Hollywood.
He served as musical film editor, uncredited, on Walt Disney's Fantasia (1940). Csillag received an on-screen credit as musical film editor for the segment "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" in Fantasia 2000 (1999). He was also film editor on the 1944 musical Sweethearts of the U.S.A..
In 1950, while working at Paramount Pictures, Csillag shared a Technical Achievement Award (Class III) with Charles R. Daily for developing a new precision method of computing variable tempo click tracks. He died on 26 May 1969 in Los Angeles, California.
