Biography

Stephen Kandel was an American television writer. Born in New York City, he graduated from Dartmouth College in 1950 after serving in the US Army during the Second World War. He began his career writing for the series Sea Hunt in the late 1950s.

Kandel wrote for numerous series including Batman (1966), Wonder Woman (1975), The Six Million Dollar Man (1974), Hawaii Five-O (1969), Mission: Impossible, Mannix and MacGyver (1985), on which he also served as a producer. He wrote two episodes of Star Trek (1966) and two of Star Trek (1973). He created the series Iron Horse (1966) and received a Writers Guild of America award and a Humanitas Prize.
