Biography
Stephen Sinclair is a New Zealand playwright, screenwriter and novelist. He co-wrote the screenplays for Meet the Feebles (1989), Braindead (1992) and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh.
Sinclair co-authored the stage comedy Ladies Night with Anthony McCarten; the French version won the Molière Award for stage comedy of the year in 2001. He also wrote and directed the feature film Russian Snark (2010), which premiered at the New Zealand Film Festival and received multiple international awards. Other works include the novels Thief of Colours (1995) and Dread (2000).
He was born in Auckland and holds a BA in Māori studies from Victoria University (1979). His plays often explore themes of race and culture.
