Biography
Stephen Young (born Stephen Levy, 19 May 1939) is a retired Canadian actor. Born in Toronto to a financier father, he attended Forest Hill Collegiate Institute and briefly signed with the Cleveland Indians baseball team before a knee injury ended that prospect. He began acting in the early 1960s with bit parts in European films including Cleopatra (1963) and The Thin Red Line (1964), then returned to Canada for leading roles in television series such as Seaway (1965) as Nick King and Moment of Truth.
Moving to Hollywood in 1966, Young gained prominence as Ben Caldwell in the legal drama Judd for the Defense (1967–1969). He worked primarily as a character actor with supporting film roles including Captain Chester B. Hansen in Patton (1970), Gilbert in Soylent Green (1973) and Freddie in The Silent Partner (1978, credited as Stephen Levy). His later credits include Charlie Bartlett (2008) as Dr. Stan Weathers and guest appearances in series such as Airwolf, Murder, She Wrote and Magnum, P.I.. Young’s final screen role was in the 2013 film The Angel Inn.
