Biography
Steve Cropper was an American guitarist, songwriter, record producer and actor. He was a founding member of the Stax Records house band Booker T. & the M.G.'s and played on numerous soul hits by artists including Otis Redding and Sam & Dave.
Cropper appeared as Steve 'The Colonel' Cropper in the films The Blues Brothers (1980) and Blues Brothers 2000 (1998). He also had a role in Amazon Women on the Moon (1987). He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Booker T. & the M.G.'s in 1992.
Born on 21 October 1941 in Missouri, Cropper died on 3 December 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee.
