Biography
Steve Meerson is an American screenwriter and producer. He is best known for co-writing the screenplay for Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) with his long-time writing partner Peter Krikes. The pair received first-position screenplay credit from the Writers Guild of America.
A fourth-generation Los Angeles native, Meerson attended UCLA and UC San Diego before graduating from USC's Graduate School of Cinematic Arts. He worked in finance before selling his first script, co-written with Krikes, to Disney. His other credited screenplays include Back to the Beach (1987), Double Impact (1991) and Anna and the King (1999). He has also undertaken uncredited rewrites on films such as Summer School (1987) and Red Heat (1988). Meerson received a Saturn Award nomination for his work on Star Trek IV.
