Biography
Steven Quale is an American film director and second unit director. He began his career after making the short film Darkness (1988), which led to work with James Cameron. He served as editor on the special edition of The Abyss (1989) and later worked in various production and second unit roles on Cameron's films including Titanic (1997) and Avatar (2009).
Quale has directed the feature films Final Destination 5 (2011), Into the Storm (2014), Renegades (2017) and Black Box (2026). He also directed the IMAX documentary Aliens of the Deep (2005) and served as second unit director on Greyhound (2020) and other projects.
