Biography
Sturla Brandth Grøvlen is a Norwegian cinematographer born on 11 March 1980 in Trondheim. He lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. He studied film history and theory at Lillehammer University College, attended the European Film College in Ebeltoft, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography from Bergen Academy of Art and Design in 2006, and graduated from the National Film School of Denmark in 2011.
Grøvlen is known for his work on Victoria (2015), a single-take film for which he received the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. He has also served as director of photography on Rams (2015), Another Round (2020), The Innocents (2021) and other features. He has won additional awards including the German Film Award for Best Cinematography for Victoria and Amanda Awards for The Innocents and War Sailor.
