Biography
Sue Blane is an English costume designer. She studied at Wolverhampton College of Art and the Central School of Art and Design in London, completing her training in 1971, and spent two years at the Citizens’ Theatre in Glasgow.
Blane created the costumes for the original stage production of The Rocky Horror Show (1973) and its 1975 film adaptation, as well as the sequel Shock Treatment (1981). Her film credits also include The Draughtsman’s Contract (1982), for which she received a BAFTA nomination, Absolute Beginners (1986) and Lady Jane (1986). She has designed for numerous theatre, opera and ballet companies in the UK and abroad.
In 2007 she was awarded an MBE for services to drama and is a Royal Designer for Industry.
