Biography
Susan Backlinie was an American actress and stuntwoman. She was born on 1 September 1946 in Miami, Florida, and died on 11 May 2024 in Ventura, California.
She is best known for playing Chrissie Watkins, the first victim of the shark, in Steven Spielberg's Jaws (1975). A former competitive swimmer, mermaid performer and animal trainer, she specialised in aquatic stunt work. Her other screen credits include 1941 (1979), Day of the Animals (1977) and The Great Muppet Caper (1981).
