Biography
Susan Blakely is an American actress. Born on 7 September 1948 in Frankfurt, Germany, she began her career as a model with the Ford Modeling Agency before moving to Hollywood in the early 1970s. She appeared in supporting roles in films including Savages (1972), The Way We Were (1973) and The Lords of Flatbush (1974). Her first major film role was as Patty in the disaster film The Towering Inferno (1974).
Blakely gained wide recognition for her leading role as Julie Prescott in the 1976 ABC miniseries Rich Man, Poor Man, for which she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama and received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. She later appeared in films such as Report to the Commissioner (1975), Capone (1975), The Concorde ... Airport '79 (1979) and Over the Top (1987), and has worked extensively in television.
