Biography
Susan Flannery is an American actress and director. She was born on 31 July 1939 in Jersey City, New Jersey, and studied theatre at Stephens College, earning a BFA, with further graduate work at Arizona State University.
She began her screen career in the mid-1960s with television appearances, including roles in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and The Green Hornet. Flannery played Dr Laura Horton on the soap opera Days of Our Lives from 1966 to 1975, winning a Daytime Emmy Award. In 1974 she appeared as Lorrie in the disaster film The Towering Inferno, for which she received the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year – Actress.
She later portrayed Leslie Stewart on Dallas and originated the role of Stephanie Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful from 1987 until her retirement in 2018, earning three further Daytime Emmy Awards for the performance. Flannery has also directed episodes of the series.
