Biography

Suzanne O'Malley is an American writer and screenwriter. She wrote episodes of the television series Law & Order (1995–1996), contributing as writer, teleplay and story, and also wrote for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, New York Undercover (1996) and Law & Order: UK (2011). Her screenwriting credits include the feature film Private School (1983).

O'Malley has worked as a magazine editor, including as senior editor at Esquire and contributing editor at New York Magazine. She is the author of the 2004 book Are You There Alone?: The Unspeakable Crime of Andrea Yates, a New York Times bestseller nominated for an Edgar Award. Her reporting on the Andrea Yates trial identified false testimony, which contributed to the reversal of the conviction. She has taught screenwriting at Yale University.
