Biography

Syd Lim, also credited as Lim Seung-yong or Im Seung-yong, is a South Korean film producer and occasional actor. He is the founder and CEO of Yong Film (a label under CJ ENM since 2023) and has previously worked at Walt Disney Korea and established SIO Film.

Lim began producing with The Humanist (2001) and gained prominence with Park Chan-wook's Oldboy (2003), on which he also served as planner and appeared as an actor. He has maintained a long collaboration with Park, producing The Handmaiden (2016), which won a BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in the English Language. Other notable productions include The Beauty Inside (2015), Luck-Key (2016), Heart Blackened (2017) and executive producer roles on The Call (2020) and 20th Century Girl (2022).

Lim graduated from Yonsei University with bachelor's and master's degrees in Korean literature.
