Biography
Sylvaine Strike is a South African actress, writer and theatre director based in Cape Town. She trained at the University of Cape Town, graduating with a drama degree in 1993, and later studied at the Jacques Lecoq School in Paris from 1998 to 2000, specialising in mime and clown.
She is co-founder of Fortune Cookie Theatre and has appeared in films including District 9 (2009) as Dr Katrina McKenzie, An Act of Defiance (2017) and Resort to Love (2021). Television credits include Black Sails (2014) as Netta and Those Who Can't. Strike has won multiple Naledi Theatre Awards for acting and directing, and was awarded the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2018.
