Biography
Taisto Tammi was a Finnish schlager and tango singer. Born Taisto Lundberg on 10 December 1945 in Kuusankoski, he was the first Finnish Romani singer to make recordings and became known for his interpretations of Toivo Kärki tangos.
His career peaked in the early 1960s. Recordings by Tammi appear in the soundtrack of Aki Kaurismäki’s film Ariel (1988), alongside those of Esko Rahkonen and Rauli Somerjoki. He died on 5 February 1979 in Tampere, aged 33.
