Biography
Takamasa Ōe (大江 崇允) is a Japanese screenwriter and film director. Born on 6 January 1981 in Ikeda, Osaka Prefecture, he graduated from Kindai University with a degree in stage arts.
Ōe co-wrote the screenplay for Drive My Car (2021) with Ryūsuke Hamaguchi and served as assistant director on the film. The pair shared the Best Screenplay award at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival and the Japan Academy Prize for Best Screenplay; the film received Academy Award and BAFTA nominations for adapted screenplay. He also wrote for the series Gannibal (2022).
His other credits include directing Whale Bones (2023) and writing for series such as Dragons of Wonderhatch (2023) and Land of Tanabata (2024).
