Biography
Tamara Asseyev is an American film and television producer. Born on 4 February 1943, she graduated from Marymount College in 1965 and later earned an MA in Theatre Arts from UCLA. She began her career as a production assistant for Roger Corman on low-budget films including Targets (1968) and The Dunwich Horror (1970).
In 1976 Asseyev formed a producing partnership with Alexandra Rose. Their credits include Drive-In (1976), I Wanna Hold Your Hand (1978), Big Wednesday (1978) and Norma Rae (1979). The latter, directed by Martin Ritt and starring Sally Field, received four Academy Award nominations including Best Picture. Asseyev later founded Tamara Asseyev Productions and produced several television movies such as The Penalty Phase (1986) and After the Promise (1987).
