Biography
Taungaroa Emile is a New Zealand actor of Māori descent, affiliated with the iwi Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāti Rarotonga. He made his screen debut as Mark 'Boogie' Heke in the 1994 film Once Were Warriors, for which he won the New Zealand Film and Television Award for Best Juvenile Performance.
Emile reprised the role in the 1999 sequel What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?. His other credits include Whale Rider (2003) as Willie, episodes of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess, Shortland Street, No. 2 (2006) and the short film Tama Tū (2005). He was born in Flaxmere in 1978.
