Biography
Tawny Newsome is an American actress, comedian, musician and writer. Born in Vacaville, California, she studied theatre at DePaul University in Chicago and performed with the Second City improv troupe after graduating.
She is known for playing Chelsea Leight-Leigh in the series Bajillion Dollar Propertie$ (2016–2019), voicing Beckett Mariner in Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020–) and appearing in Space Force (2020) and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022). Newsome is a writer and co-producer on Star Trek: Starfleet Academy (2026), in which she also appears as Professor Illa Dax. She is a member of the band Four Lost Souls and co-hosts the podcast Yo, Is This Racist?.
