Biography
Teodoro Escamilla, also credited as Teo Escamilla, was a Spanish cinematographer. He began his career as a photojournalist and television operator before working as a camera operator under Luis Cuadrado. He made his debut as director of photography on Cría cuervos (1976).
Escamilla frequently collaborated with director Carlos Saura on films including Carmen (1983) and El amor brujo (1986), for which he received the Goya Award for Best Cinematography. He also worked with directors such as Jaime Chávarri, Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón and José Luis Borau. He directed the feature film Tú solo (1984) and received a Special Mention for best new director at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
