Biography
Terry, also credited as Toto, was a female Cairn Terrier who worked as an animal actor in Hollywood films from 1934 to 1945. She was owned and trained by Carl Spitz.
She is best known for her role as Toto in The Wizard of Oz (1939). It was her only credited performance, listed under the character name. Due to the film's popularity, her name was officially changed to Toto in 1942. She also appeared, uncredited, in Fury (1936) and The Women (1939).
Terry was born on 17 November 1933 in Chicago, Illinois, and died on 1 September 1945 in Hollywood, California.
