Biography
Terry Louise Fisher was an American television screenwriter and producer. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on 21 February 1946 and died in Laguna Hills, California, on 10 June 2025. She graduated from the UCLA School of Law in 1968 and worked as a deputy district attorney in Los Angeles before moving into entertainment law.
Fisher began her television career as a writer and producer on the CBS series Cagney & Lacey in 1982. She later co-created the NBC legal drama L.A. Law (1986) with Steven Bochco, serving as supervising producer and writer on early episodes. She also co-created Hooperman (1987) and wrote for 2000 Malibu Road (1992), as well as the Cagney & Lacey reunion television films The Return (1994) and Together Again (1995).
During her career Fisher won three Primetime Emmy Awards from seven nominations, including for outstanding drama series for both Cagney & Lacey and L.A. Law.
