Biography

Thom Zimny is an American film director and editor. He began his career as an editor on independent films and music videos, and edited three seasons of the HBO series The Wire (2002–2004). He won a Primetime Emmy Award for picture editing on the 2001 concert special Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band: Live in New York City.

Zimny has directed numerous documentaries and concert films, many in collaboration with Bruce Springsteen. His directing credits include Wings for Wheels: The Making of 'Born to Run' (2005), The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town (2010), Springsteen on Broadway (2018), Western Stars (2019), Letter to You (2020), Sly (2023), The Beach Boys (2024) and Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (2024). He won a Grammy Award for Wings for Wheels and a Primetime Emmy for directing Springsteen on Broadway.
