Biography
Thomas Jay Ryan is an American actor. He was born on 1 August 1962 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and attended Carnegie Mellon University. He has worked in theatre at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis and the Yale Repertory Theatre in New Haven, and collaborated with avant-garde playwright Richard Foreman.
Ryan is known for his title role as Henry Fool in Hal Hartley's 1997 film Henry Fool, which he reprised in the sequels Fay Grim (2007) and Ned Rifle (2014). He played Frank in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) and appeared in other films including The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000), Equals (2015) and Cryptozoo (2021). His television credits include episodes of Elementary and The Good Wife.
