Biography
Thomas M. Disch was an American science fiction writer, poet and critic. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, he attended Cooper Union and New York University before working as a copywriter and beginning to publish short stories in science-fiction magazines in the early 1960s.
He wrote numerous novels, including The Genocides (1965), Camp Concentration (1968), 334 (1974) and On Wings of Song (1979). Disch also wrote the children's book The Brave Little Toaster (1986), which was adapted into an animated film, and the episode 'Missing Hours' of the television series Miami Vice (1984). He received a Hugo Award for nonfiction and multiple nominations for the Nebula and Hugo awards.
