Biography
Thomas M. Wright is an Australian actor, writer, director and producer. Born on 22 June 1983 in Melbourne, Victoria, he is the co-founder and director of the theatre company Black Lung, established in 2006.
As an actor he appeared in the Disney Channel films Stepsister from Planet Weird (2000) and Zenon: The Zequel (2001). He played Johnno Mitcham in Jane Campion’s series Top of the Lake (2013), for which he received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards. Other acting credits include The Bridge (2013–2014), Everest (2015), Outsiders (2016–2017), Sweet Country (2018) and Sleeping Dogs (2024).
Wright directed the feature films Acute Misfortune (2019) and The Stranger (2022), the latter of which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
