Biography
Thomas Narcejac (born Pierre Ayraud) was a French writer of crime and suspense fiction. He collaborated with Pierre Boileau under the joint pen name Boileau-Narcejac, producing numerous novels from the early 1950s onwards.
Their novel D'entre les morts (1954) was adapted by Alfred Hitchcock as Vertigo (1958). Narcejac and Boileau also wrote the screenplay for Georges Franju's Eyes Without a Face (1960), based on a novel by Jean Redon. Their works were frequently adapted for film, including Henri-Georges Clouzot's Les Diaboliques (1955).
Narcejac trained in literature and philosophy at the Sorbonne and worked as a teacher before beginning his writing career. He continued to publish after Boileau's death in 1989.
