Biography
Thomas Schubert is an Austrian actor born on 15 August 1993 in Vienna. He came to acting by chance at the age of 17 when he accompanied a friend to an open casting for Karl Markovics's film Breathing (2011) and was cast in the lead role. The performance brought him the Austrian Film Award for Best Actor and the Sarajevo Film Festival Actor Award; he left school before completing his final year to pursue acting full time.
Schubert has appeared in films including The Dark Valley (2014), Egon Schiele: Death and the Maiden (2016), Fog in August (2016), Wild Mouse (2017) and A Whole Life (2023). He played Leon in Christian Petzold's Afire (2023), for which he received a nomination for Best Actor at the European Film Awards. Other credits include the Netflix series King of Stonks (2022) as Felix Armand. In 2024 he became a member of the European Film Academy.
