Biography
Thor Freudenthal is a German film and television director, animator and former special effects artist. He was born on 20 October 1972 in West Berlin and raised in Berlin. He attended the Hochschule der Künste Berlin and studied as an exchange student at CalArts in Southern California.
Freudenthal began his career in animation and visual effects, contributing to films including Stuart Little and Stuart Little 2. He directed the short film Motel (2005) and made his feature debut with Hotel for Dogs (2009). He is known for directing Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010) and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013), as well as episodes of series such as Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and three episodes of The Expanse (2017–2018). Later credits include Words on Bathroom Walls (2020) and further television work.
