Biography
Tim Bentinck, also credited as Timothy Bentinck, is an Australian-born British actor and voice artist. He was born on 1 June 1953 in Tasmania, Australia, and moved to England as a child. He trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School after studying at the University of East Anglia.
Bentinck is best known for his long-running role as David Archer in the BBC Radio 4 series The Archers, which he has played since 1982. On television he appeared as Cliff Lawton in The Thick of It (2005) and as Tom Lacey in By the Sword Divided (1983–85). His film and voice credits include 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure (2003), Gnomeo & Juliet (2011), Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) and Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (2023).
He has also worked extensively as a voice-over artist and was appointed MBE for services to drama in 2018. As the 12th Earl of Portland, he sat in the House of Lords from 1997 to 1999.
