Biography

Tim Chappel is an Australian costume designer. He studied fashion design at Sydney College of the Arts before leaving to work in television.

Chappel is best known for his work on the 1994 film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, for which he shared an Academy Award for Best Costume Design with Lizzy Gardiner. The pair also received BAFTA and AFI awards. He later designed costumes for the stage musical adaptation, winning a Tony Award and other honours.

His credits include feature films such as Miss Congeniality (2000), Mental (2012) and The Dressmaker (2015), as well as television work on series including The Masked Singer and Dancing with the Stars.
