Biography
Tom Araya is a Chilean-American musician who appears as himself in music documentaries. He is the vocalist and bassist of the thrash metal band Slayer, which he co-founded in 1981 and with which he remained until its initial retirement in 2019.
Araya is credited as Self in Anvil! The Story of Anvil (2008). He also appears in Metal: A Headbanger's Journey (2005), Global Metal (2008) and The Big Four: Live in Sofia (2010). Born in Viña del Mar, Chile, in 1961, he moved to the United States as a child and worked as a respiratory therapist in the early 1980s.
