Biography

Tom Braidwood is a Canadian actor and director. Born on 27 September 1948 in British Columbia, he began working in film and television production in Vancouver in 1977, initially as a production assistant and location manager before taking on assistant director roles.

He is best known for portraying Melvin Frohike, one of the Lone Gunmen, in the television series The X-Files (1993–2018) and the spin-off The Lone Gunmen (2001). While serving as first assistant director on The X-Files during its first five seasons, Braidwood was cast in the recurring role, which appeared across 40 episodes. He also appeared as Frohike in the 1998 feature film The X-Files. His other acting credits include Alien Trespass (2009), Messages Deleted (2010) and Viper (1994).

Braidwood worked as a second unit director on Millennium and as a producer and director on Da Vinci's Inquest. He largely retired from acting and production around 2010 but returned to reprise Frohike in the 2016 revival of The X-Files.
