Biography
Tom Epperson is an American screenwriter and novelist. He is best known for his long collaboration with fellow Arkansan Billy Bob Thornton, with whom he co-wrote the screenplays for One False Move (1992), A Family Thing (1996), The Gift (2000) and Jayne Mansfield's Car (2012). He also wrote the teleplay for the television film Jesse Stone: Night Passage (2006) and, under the name Nigel Dial, the story and screenplay for Camouflage (2001).
Epperson was born on 22 May 1951 in Nashville, Arkansas. He studied English at the University of Arkansas and moved to Los Angeles with Thornton in the early 1980s. Their breakthrough came with One False Move, which received critical acclaim and nominations including an Independent Spirit Award for Best Screenplay. Epperson has also published several crime novels, beginning with The Kind One (2008).
