Biography
Tom Fitz is an American cinematographer specialising in natural history and underwater filming. He has worked as a freelance cameraman for the BBC, National Geographic, PBS and others for over thirty years.
Fitz contributed cinematography to the BBC series Planet Earth II (2016). He has also worked on Planet Earth, Blue Planet, Frozen Planet, Life and Our Planet (2019). He has filmed in all seven continents and five oceans, including polar regions and deep water using ROVs and manned submarines.
Fitz has received multiple Primetime Emmy Awards for cinematography, including for Planet Earth II, as well as BAFTA awards and nominations. He founded Schoolyard Films to produce educational natural history content for schools.
