Biography
Tom Gilroy is an American actor, director, writer, producer, playwright, poet, musician and teacher. He was born on 7 August 1960 in Jamaica.
As an actor he has appeared in over 20 television shows, including Law & Order (1990), Sex and the City (1998), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999), Third Watch (1999) and Damages (2007), and in around 30 films. His film roles include Lawrence in Land and Freedom (1995), directed by Ken Loach, as well as parts in Bread and Roses (2000), Series 7: The Contenders (2001), Dream Boy (2008) and The World Made Straight (2015).
Gilroy has written, directed and produced five films, including the short Touch Base and the feature Spring Forward. He founded the theatre company Machine Full and has taught at Columbia University and Davidson College.
