Biography
Tom Martin is an American television writer and producer. Born in Chicago in 1964, he grew up in Southern California and graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 1987 with degrees in economics and political science. He began his career as a stand-up comedian before working as a guest writer on Saturday Night Live and contributing to sitcoms including Just Shoot Me! (1997) and The Naked Truth.
Martin wrote three episodes of The Simpsons (1989) between 1999 and 2001, including 'Grift of the Magi' (1999) and 'Pokey Mom' (2001), and served as co-producer, producer and supervising producer on 67 episodes across seasons 10 to 12. He received two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program for his work on the series. He has also written for Clone High (2002), WordGirl (as head writer) and co-created Talking Tom and Friends (2014–2021). Other credits include the teleplays for It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie (2002) and The Muppets' Wizard of Oz (2005).
