Biography
Tom Schulman is an American screenwriter and film director. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, he graduated from Vanderbilt University with a BA in philosophy in 1972 and studied at the USC Graduate School of Cinema.
He is best known for writing the screenplay for Dead Poets Society (1989), which won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. His other credits include the screenplays for Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989), What About Bob? (1991), Medicine Man (1992), Holy Man (1998) and Welcome to Mooseport (2004). He also wrote and directed 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag (1997).
Schulman served as vice president of the Writers Guild of America, West.
