Biography
Tom Whedon was an American television writer and producer. He began his career as one of the original writers on the children's series Captain Kangaroo (1955) and later worked on The Dick Cavett Show and as head writer on The Electric Company (1971), for which he shared a Primetime Emmy Award in 1973.
Whedon wrote episodes of Alice (1976), Benson (1979) and It's a Living. He served as supervising and co-executive producer on The Golden Girls (1985), for which he received Primetime Emmy nominations in 1990 and 1991, and wrote several episodes. He later wrote for the children's series Between the Lions (1999), earning a Daytime Emmy nomination. His father, John Whedon, was also a screenwriter; his sons include writers Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Zack Whedon.
