Biography
Tom Whitlock was an American songwriter. He co-wrote the lyrics for five songs on the soundtrack of the film Top Gun (1986), including 'Take My Breath Away', performed by Berlin, and 'Danger Zone', performed by Kenny Loggins, both with music by Giorgio Moroder.
Whitlock was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he met Moroder while working at a recording studio. The pair collaborated on further film projects including Over the Top (1987) and Rambo III (1988), as well as theme songs for the 1988 Summer Olympics and the 1990 FIFA World Cup.
Whitlock died on 18 February 2023.
