Biography
Tong Di, also credited as Di Tong, was a Chinese stage, film and television actor. He joined the Beiping Motherland Theatre Troupe in 1948 and, from 1952, worked as a stage actor at the Beijing People's Art Theatre. His theatre roles included parts in Rickshaw Boy and Teahouse.
On screen he played Da Sha Yang in the 1982 film adaptation of Teahouse and Zhang the Eunuch in Farewell My Concubine (1993). He also appeared in the 1990 film Wu hu chuang Tianqiao and took part in the first CCTV Spring Festival Gala in 1983. He died on 9 October 2002.
