Biography

Tony Doyle was an Irish actor. Born on 21 July 1935 in Ballyfarnan, County Roscommon, he died on 28 January 2000 in London. He first came to prominence playing Father Sheehy in the RTÉ series The Riordans from 1965.

He appeared in the BBC series Between the Lines (1992–1994) as Chief Supt. John Deakin and in Ballykissangel (1996–1999) as Brian Quigley. His film roles included Colonel Hadley in Who Dares Wins (1982), the Prime Minister in Damage (1992), Dr Foley in Circle of Friends (1995), and a part in I Went Down (1997). He won an Irish Film and Television Academy Award for best leading performance for his role in the 1998 miniseries Amongst Women.
